Farbspiel der Stadlichter
Solo Exhibition, Ortsmuseum Hunzikerareal, Zurich, January 2025
This exhibition explored themes of community, shared public spaces, environmental concerns, and contemporary urban life. Through a combination of homemade inks, found materials, watercolours, and embroidery, I created a series of paintings that reflect these themes.
The compositions in this series focus on everyday objects and ordinary plants, placing them on a pedestal and thereby highlighting their perceived importance and the sense of security or rhythm they bring to daily life. In an increasingly unstable world, how do we cultivate a sense of home? Even in the city, nature persists - breaking through concrete, adapting, finding the light and thriving despite human intervention.
The exhibition also functioned as a community laboratory, inviting visitors to engage directly with the process. They could read about and experiment with natural inks, draw, and take part in conversations about urban living and environmental connections. Their creations could be taken home or left behind, contributing to a steadily growing collection over the course of the exhibition.
Additionally, a community workshop offered visitors the opportunity to learn how to create their own inks from their surroundings, deepening their engagement with the materials and themes of the exhibition.
